Course Outline

 

Overall, the goal of this course will prepare aircrew to cope with the hazards that may be encountered before, during, and immediately after a helicopter ditching at sea, wherein aircrew will be supplied with a compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during helicopter travel.

Course Aim

 

The aim of this course is to provide aircrew with the skills necessary to coordinate the evacuation and egress from a ditched helicopter.

Course Objectives

 

​Prepare learners that intend to travel by helicopter by providing specific training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements and to equip learners with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a helicopter emergency. The learners will be able to demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.

Pre-requisites

 

Training activities contained within this package may be physically demanding and potentially stressful to learners. All learners who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully.

 

As a minimum, prior to participating in practical exercises, the learners must possess a valid, current medical certificate.

Appraisal Process (Exam):

This is a no pass or fail outcome however instructors will reinforce Learner understanding by way of a 30-minute ‘open book’ questionnaire and conducted practical assessment on the training day.

Certification:

Learners will receive a UK registered NOCN Certificate Level 3 for Helicopter Underwater Emergency Training. Certificates are awarded from the UK and will be forwarded post course in soft copy to the individuals and/or the employer point of contact.
